UK Legacy HPE VR

Anyone hearing if there is likely to be any Voluntary Redundancy on offer for Legacy HPE staff in the UK over the next couple of months ?

Heard TNT got hacked big time where most of their devices have lost all data so they are having to rebuild from scratch.

They are calling out all people in particular cheap apprentices to go to Coventry for rebuilds. There is unlimited overtime available.

if these wannacry type hacks carry on DXC are f---ed, or let's hope they get hacked too. Might just f---ing make Lawrie loose his job in the process because there would be no staff to rebuild his laptop.

So hackers if your reading, do us a solid....

Hi @vsz @1lis here

Agreed. They are going to get most people eventually because the McKinsey list tells them what roles and individuals to zap and when.

September will be pretty rough from what I've heard but as you say it will not end there. When I left ITO I think we had had 36 quarters with layoffs in the last 37. I don't see why that should change.

The worry was always not when you'd be binned off because it was almost inevitable. Rather how much you'd get and would they reduce or even change the terms to statutory minimum like IBM did.

I'm contracting now. But contracting for DXC will always be a last resort

@1Lis

I also heard September is going to be kicking off a programme where upto 50% of the workforce will be reduced.

Obviously won't happen overnight, but it's the beginning of the end for most of us.

In the UK We were told that VR program would just be an on-going fact of life now - a way to "manage demand with agility" every quarter

I went on VR in March. I did this for two reasons

  1. I didn't want a ****stain like DXC (read CSC) on my CV, and

  2. Someone senior and that I trust told me that September would be a car crash for ex HPE ES people in the UK as a number of sites closed and the layoffs were ramped up after a brief hiatus in June. So I thought it best to get out before the rush, and a period running up to Christmas, where it would be harder to find another role quickly.

I understand that June saw relatively few casualties amongst ex HPE people so the first bit seems to have been true and friends still there are telling me of closures coming up that are now being publicised.

In short, I would bet my mortgage you will be offered a chance to go for VR sometime in late August. Well I would bet my mortgage if we still had one. We paid ours off in April thanks to HPE's payoff :0)

If a voluntary redundancy program were offered then the number of applicants would exceed the number of redundant positions. Basically nobody would be left except the big bosses in the executive suite.

My own opinion is unlikely simply because they are advertising more hpe roles on dxc careers than ex csc posts.
