Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Layoff indicators

Reasons why you might want to look for an exit. My (subjective) observations for many many years now.

Personal indicators

  1. When your manager treats you differently, might not include you in meetings and sprint planning

  2. You might see additional headcount in your team

  3. Talks of pivoting or terminating project(s)

  4. Manager focuses on your failures than successes

  5. Several manager level meetings

Company wide indicators

  1. Company financials in decline quarter after quarter

  2. Some groups don't perform as well as others

  3. Your group is mostly software based and can be off-shored.

@gxl any meaningful work in hardware needs experience and expertise ( I don't count writing rtl code and running automated synthesis tool ). That why you find all these front end jobs being off-shored.

@rzi maybe it's time, I'm not saying, I'm just saying

Age alone is a good indicator unless you are a member of the good old boys club. If you are male and 50+ years old, you should be fearful. The end can come at ant time, and for any reason, or no reason at all, or a made up reason.

Don't get it. Hardware can just as easily, if not more so, be outsourced than just software.
