Thread regarding Sears layoffs

No Hours, No Raises, New iPhone?

Not sure if every store on both sides is going to be a part of this, but my store is supposed to be getting a brand new iPhone that the Manager on Duty will carry on them at all times. We're getting our hours cut horribly, no one has seen a raise in 10+ years, but please, give the stores an unneeded expensive item that is guaranteed to be dropped, misplaced, broken or stolen.

Anyone know the reason for this?

This is another reason why Sears is dumb who the hell had the dumb idea of creating an app called "Call Sears" when we have regular wired phones. The wired phones never failed me they always worked perfectly fine and best of all they were very efficient. The few times I used the call sears app it would miss the call, customer couldn't hear me or vice versa or it would just lose the call. Now they want to bring iphones whats the point of bringing a damn iphone here. Do they think that app will work better or is it another unnecessarily expense that is to come adding phone service to the iphones. Also I am calling it its probably going to be an iphone 5s or an Iphone SE.

We're part of the digital journey and the managers are now supposed to answer the calls on the SNCs. Most of the SNCs in the store DO NOT work. Don't charge, don't hold a charge or are broken for some indeterminate reason. Everyone tries to get the SNCs to work but very few of them do. There is big competition to get one of the working ones. This was before the push to use it as a phone. Doesn't work very well as a phone with the amateur app either. Just another layer of stress to put on employees who want to do their jobs but are instead given roadblocks.

We used CallSears for a week. It made bad battery life worse on the devices (which most have to be rotated since the batteries are permanently declining) and caused ShopSears or the SNC app to misbehave. When we did use the app it never worked. In fact it inadvertently hung up and crashed a few times.

No sense in Pebbling it to #ithelp because you'll just get a generic "please kindly describe the problem" response to a post already describing the problem in full detail. Twenty minutes later they close the ticket when nothing was resolved. Happens every time, so our store (and many others) have to live with IT issues or fix them ourselves if we are able.

It seemed to be a colossal waste of money to develop a phone system interface app for 5-year old devices past their useful lifecycle, just like it was to develop an app (ShopSears) to interface with a 20-year old register.

We were and are doing just fine with telephones attached to a wall and placed at every cashwrap. Our store has over 50 of them in the building. If this is to improve call answer rates, that's silly. Walk over to a blasted phone and answer the call.

Somebody actually answers the phone in your store? Amazing. Nobody answers the phone in our store. They just leave it laying around and don't even charge it most of the time.

I think you're mistaken or misunderstood. Stores that are equipped DJ stores (digital journey) will utilize the iPad or iPod SNCS with ear buds for phone calls using the CallSears app. This equipment is already in these stores (other than the headphones which they received).

Haven't heard anything like that. In our store the MOD already carries an iPad with the callsears app on.
