Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Morale at all time low

Don't no about any body else, but we surely do miss our Audit team. Shrink is horrible, cim a nightmare and moral is at it's worst. Everybody going in circles looking for merchandise that is not here. Lot's of us worried who will be next to go. I think a lot have mentally checked out and just do not care anymore. Which reminds me, has everyone used up what you have in your personal and sick leave buckets? We got screwed when changes were made last year on this. These changes were done in our company handbook right before these changes on our accumulated time went into effect. When was the last time we were given a handbook...20, 25, 30 years ago?

Handbook?! (Laugh)! They don't want us to know what's going on anymore. Hell they don't even train anyone anymore. He is your role. Do it. If you don't do it well we will get someone else. No one cares. Everyone feels like they are on a sinking ship. It's bonkers.

Well said and I totally agree. The amount of money spent on visits could be spent of payroll to fix the issues we already know we have. Harry Potter isn't an employee so no magic wand available. It's the same thing. Cleanliness. Hire better maintenance. Full stock. Hire stockers that actually stock not linerush. Friendliness. Make it where people care again.

They are absolutely insane for cutting the audit team. Inventories are out of control. Theft trends do not get noticed. The team leads doing 10 items in a category isn't helping anything.

John Fuhrner and Gisele are clowns that decided it was a good idea to cut payroll in the company by eliminating a position that tended to have long term associates in that role. Turns out those people cared about their jobs and invested time to get the inventory right and keep shrink as low as possible. It's a slap in the face for someone wearing a 25 year badge to be targeting positions with people who have been around the company for the same length of time.

Maybe the company should look to trim redundancies in long term upper management who have failed to keep this company on pace with Amazon and Costco.

Gisele and John could get cut and save the company about $2 million in salary and probably twice that for the frivolous visits jet setting the USA to spout nonsense buzz phrases to practices that were started decades ago.

I just hope they learned the lesson on letting them go and hold back on the others they are supposedly letting go. Every post on here sounds like my club. My audit team got let go 1 day after inventory so imagine what our inventory is going to be like. I'm scared to even think about that day. I do like my job and all the people I work with and for just praying I'm not next. Receiving lead.

They are realizing it was a mistake to cut audit team. Everything and everyone is in shambles. No one prepared for inventories without audit. Dollar differences are horrible. Who is working dollar difference to correct all inventory errors? This will be a never ending headache. Please accept your mistakes and bring them back. Just think, maybe they will because they will come back at a lower pay to do the same job. Was this their intention? The same can be said about all other future layoffs they have in mind. Never thought Sam's would do this to it's most loyal associates. Let's just take it one day at a time and see what happens next.

Our inventory was a joke along with the idiots they brought in to help. Is what they don't know they expendable just like the rest of us. We were missing over $100,000 in 3 months since audit left. Audit teams are laughing their asses off. Can't say I blame them at all pay back is a b--ch.

All the comments I'm reading sounds just like my club. So much stress from managers, is trickling down to the associates and nowhere to turn for help. Not the club it use to be when I started 21 years ago. What a shame. Use to be a fun place to work. So sad.

It's a joke in all clubs! The CM is so stressed and he walks around like his heads gonna explode. I feel sorry for him lots on his plate and no one to help. The assistant managers are worthless they do absolutely nothing.

Our inventory was the worst and the funny thing about all this is that they couldn't find anyone or anything to pin It on. It was a joke. That's what they deserve getting rid of our auditers.

Totally agree. The workload has more than doubled for most areas with expectations at an all time high. More duties going to the departments that still have knowledge of how to run things. I get tired of having to help management do their job because they have no clue what they are doing. Morale is gone and grassroots will once again be bad. Too much favoritism. The list of bad is a mile long. 10 years down the drain.

Managers and Leads seem to be all stressed, running around with their heads cut off. Not enough people and lofty expectations where you will get coached if you don't perform a miracle and get everything done. Morale is in the toilet. I've been with the company 10+ years and I'm starting to look elsewhere.

I was 1 of the Audit TL that were let go. My club just finished inventory and came in as worst in the region at .40%. Myself and my team left 2 months ago at a .20% which in our mkt. was the 2nd best and they doubled their loses in 2 months. Good for Sam's Club 😛

I have noticed the managers are all stressing but then saying everything is fine when we know it's not. We would be fools not to expect something is coming soon. If it wasn't why wouldn't they just say something. I'm hearing more and more associates wanting to leave daily. It's sad.

Has anyone else noticed that managers are using up all of their time off as well. At my club every week they take turns. Even Management knows their days are numbered. They all run like chickens without a head. They are always stressed about everything. Too many expectations with not enough people to complete all tasks at hand. It all starts with not having enough overnight stockers. You need more than a handful to have club fully stock for business. These guys usually crawl out of here every morning at 7 am. Then we wonder why they quit?

Makes you think the pto restructure was the first wave. Think of how many long term associates that have a "personal" balance they will never get to use. I myself have well over 100 hours if I get a severance I won't see it. I can't be the only one times that by hundreds of people equals millions of dollars!

You are correct. Most of the older associates have checked out for so many reasons. If your club hasn't had inventory yet just wait you will want to throw up on inventory day. I think they are going to put off letting anymore positions go. There might be changes to job responsibility . The holidays are coming and they don't have enough help now and if they get rid of the older associates it won't be a good holiday for anyone. Hang in there.
