Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

August 11 WFRs at DXC

Word on the street is there'll be a major WFR round in the US coming up mid August. I've been told August 11 (Friday). The word used was "bloodbath". If the rumors are true, notifications will be out that Thursday Aug 10, then off 8/11. My project WBS is supposed to be active until the end of the month, and of course that doesn't mean anything - they'll find someone else to carry it through the end if I'm hit.

Bumped from another thread ( @Oz3Dly0-efn) for new info.

7 peers told in advance for handover activities. Last day Aug 11. 2 layers of leadership eliminated. ( I agree with) Before one leader left they gave all on the future WFR list warning. Much respect there.

I've seen nothing out of what we consider to be ordinary WFRs this week. It would be nice if we could keep fearmongering from this site, as it is a valuable resource for those looking for the inside scoop on DXC.

Did the severance really get cut down to 2 weeks max for all, or is that more BS?

Make sure you have an up-to-date of an employee handbook, it contains a section on COBRA. It has information in it regarding your rights under cobra. You will get a termination package that contains contact information for COBRA as well as other information. DXC/CSC had a third party COBRA administrator. They will contact you. CSC told me I would hear within a couple of weeks, but the COBRA adminstrator, followed the law and they took it to the last minute. We had to pay for our own medical for at least 1 month and was reimbursed afterwards. (We lost a hundreds of dollars since our cost for medical/pharm during this gap was at a non-insured rate but reimbursed only for what the insurance company's negotiated rate was. CVS told us how to get a discount card to use which softened the blow with pharm) Good luck.

You may have to go to DXC Answers, I was not on their insurance so it did not matter for me.

Just the Unemployment process. You apply for unemployment compensation first, receive the documents that allow you to file for the actual compensation that must be done biweekly, all online and fairly easy, just used the information from my last stub.

I understand the unemployment, but what is this compensation you filed for?

I received a call Thursday morning near 10:30 AM EST. Was told that I was part of the WFR. To go ahead and just start shutting down. I even asked about working out the rest of the day and was told to put a vacation day in for Thu and Fri then shut down. Since I already put my time in for Thu, I just left it that way. Applied for unemployment on Friday and filed for compensation Sunday. Received boxes for my laptops and sent them back. Also just received my 401k MAP information to roll that over or keep it there. None, of the other team members of my group were informed so they were blindsided.

For people who have been WFR'd in this current "notified Thursday, gone Friday" model, I have 2 questions:

1) How were you notified?

2) What was expected of you on that last day?

Not paying vendors could just be rubber pencil accounting. I guess we will know the truth of this in Tuesday. If they are only giving a two week severance, that's pretty insulting.

The severance package has been reduced to 2 weeks regardless of how long you have worked for the company and all the jobs are shipped off shore to thicken the executive pockets. The worst company to ever work for unless you are willing to work 70 hours a week and zero appreciation.

Let us be very clear. DXC has withheld payment from vendors for four months to attain the numbers.

Think about this: high cost to fund WFRs = lower earnings and less profit = more WFRs to come. Will any of the DXC spies on this forum dispute this logic?

I think the coming and continuing WFRs are part of the plan that was presented earlier this year on Investors Day. That being said I do think that the WFR numbers may be higher than planned as a result of what appear to be disappointing earnings for the 1st quarter.

But then again....

Either way we will find out end of day August 8th.

The only reason for a bloodbath would be an earnings stumble. Anyone have any ideas on that?

If notified of WFR on Thursday Aug 10th and Last day of work is Friday Aug 11th -

Would I be paid all severance on Friday Aug 11th (4yrs with HP/HPE/DXC) in a single final paycheck

Or as an hourly employee would I receive a few weeks severance as a regular paycheck for 1 or 2 additional paychecks after Aug 11th and not in a lump sum?

If anyone really knows anything real, state what you know . Just putting out dates like Aug 11th and Aug 25th is useless information. State which area's (location's or departments) , give us something to go on.
