Its just been announced that the avionics site in the Indonesian island of Bintan is the latest casualty of the aero sites. Weak sales and a further weaker demand for Honeywell products has finally sealed the site's fate. The best of luck to those that will be losing their jobs and having to look for another.

It is not only indonesia site (bintan) but also singapore site (chai-chee). chai-chee & bintan under 1 management.
It is true. Bintan is closing and the work is moving to Penang. Many of the people have been given their end date in early 2018.
Is this for real?
Perhaps they found a cheaper slave-wage location?
I have heard it was really dangerous for an American to venture outside the factory compound there.
I doubt it had anything to do with "hating us for our 'freedom'" as Dubya used to say.
