I've been with Bed Bath & Beyond for over two decades now. I was not caught by these layoffs, but I can see the writing on the wall. I've noticed several people say that they received 16 weeks severance despite working for 20+ years. Shouldn't the severance equal number of years with the company in weeks? Is there a hard cap at 16 I don't know about? I would highly appreciate an answer...

Gamble. Get a good lawyer, negotiate ur own payoff. Remember their afraid of a lawsuit. Direct deposits, calling ppl on the phone, durning their vacation can be used to your advanage legally. Read the "WARN ACT BILL" passed in 1988. They have you in panic mode
Companies don't have to give severances, unless they don't want to get sued.
Companies dont have to give severances.
Maybe the CEO could take a little less than 16 million like he did last year. That might save a few jobs
Almost 19 years w/BBB - I got 16 weeks
The question is, is it worth the fight to turn down the sixteen week package and seeks better a deal,? I also have worked my heart out for two decades for the company and think they can do better.
In the exit paper work they gave each ex-employee the parameters of the severance is a minimum of 4 weeks and a maximum of 16 weeks.
While I didn't get laid off I was read part of the severance package had a cap of 16 weeks. That was what was read to me by the hr represantiative.
I was wondering the same thing. I have/had worked for BBB for 19 years and 9 months. I also got 16 weeks.
