Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

My opinion: Kingwood will be closed soon enough

Kingwood will be closed soon enough. What work is being done there now will be outsourced and the management that remains will either go to Huntsville or SJP. Once they took this and split it among 4 different VPs, each with their own goals and the ingerited Kingwood portion being an afterthought to the rest of their product lines they already had it was only a matter of time. Kingwood is broken, don't get me wrong there, but there are a lot of good folks and management has done them no favor in how they have run that place. Give it a couple years and Weatherford will pull all the teams together again touting the synergy of the move. (What every one of our competitors is or has done now).

Hearing that Kingwood will be shutdown by EOY (2017). Believe they have some cushion on the lease of the building into Q1 of 2018 but not much. Also hear they have not finalized on outsourcing as of yet.

How in the heck does one make a call like this without the specifics detailed out. WFT has never been able to do anything in 3 mo time and they are moving into the holiday season(s) and working with reduced staff as well. Who is running this Automation team now? Someone may need to ask them to stay behind and sweep the place up and not give them a key to the new office, if there is one.

I think this is the last trip around the bowl friends. You have less than 3mo to find a new boat.

What part or is all closing? How soon?

Feel for the workers in the back, they are always the ones that get hit the hardest and the mismanagement in the front just moves along to a new location.

Kind of a shame Weatherford ever took this over from ep-Solutions. They never managed to bring it into the larger company always keeping it at arms length, but near enough to just screw the entire thing up. EPS had its issues, but at least it was focused and not burdened with the overhead WFT placed on it as well as the limitations on cash flow. Most of the product lines working out of Kingwood were EPITDA positive pre WFT.

There is no management here now same as a year ago. That is obvious in the fact that they're unable to deliver products- ask anyone of the operations guys out there. Why do you think they are moving to an outsourced model? Problem is that even going that direction will not save them, Weatherford does not pay their bills so any relationship will be short lived and unless they trim management they aren't going to save anything- likely increase cost and just move jobs overseas like they did for pumping units (at least pumping units save some cost with their move though)

Let's talk kingwood here. The management from a year ago was the one that done this place in. He left and caused destruction at his new home and then left there for another home to destroy.
