Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

RIDICULOUS RETURN POLICY

First, I want to say to those who were blindsided by the massive layoffs, I'm so sorry! I pray that better opportunities come your way.

Now, the return policy. We have customers return old coffee makers, toasters, blenders etc.. to the point where you are scratching your head at the condition of the product!

No receipt requires LOD to come up and inspect and allow the return. None of the managers can't say no!!! Oh, heaven forbid you say no! Corporate will ALWAYS side with their customers vs their employees. When will this company realize that their Return Policy is Beyond ridiculous and does nothing to increase sales.

It's like renting our products and return them when you feel like it!

Think of it as a blessing in disguise to those who are no longer with BBB.

God bless you all!

The first reply is completely wrong. I worked in the back end of a BBB store for well over ten years running the shipping/receiving/returns department. No, BBB does NOT get full credit for all of the returns. Some of them, yes...but it all depends on the agreement that BBB has with each particular vendor. Approximately 25% of the vendors would take back their merchandise-no questions asked. The other 75% of returns were covered by differing agreements with those vendors. BBB loses money on their return policy on a regular basis.

However, the returns policy has little to do with any lay-offs. It's mostly because of competition from online vendors such as Amazon...and poor decision making by corporate leadership.

It seems you have no clue about the back end of a store. Yes bbb takes everything back, yes it seems crazy but bbb gets full credit back so who cares if it comes back? Jobs were no cut due to returns. You just proved you don't understand the business. Sorry to be blunt.
