Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Why are people in such denial that layoffs will occur. The merger of Dell and EMC reminds me of another failed "mega-merger" 20 some years ago that of Dec and Compaq it to was called a master stroke at the time but in fact like this most recent one was nothing more than the last dying gasp of two tech dinosaurs mating to stave off the inevitable. Dell was on a downward path, EMC the same, storage is a commodity and most of what Dell sells is commodity hardware and much of it not even at the top end of the commodity food chain. Networking is a joke, no marketing, no incentives, the team recently screwed over as other teams continue to lie about their abilities to sell networking when in fact most don't have a clue and will continue to sell servers only. There is no choice but to cut and cut deep. Senior sales folks like myself will be cut , middle management will be cut, replaced by cheaper less experienced sales and engineering staff when required but in most cases there will be no replacement as Dell EMC tries to revamp the channel with a completely dysfunctional channel organization not accountable for anything. Its the dinosaurs last dance with the only goal being to last long enough for MD to cash out in an IPO , declare himself a genius and then do a Bill Gates and fad away even richer than before leaving a wake of unemployed patsy's behind him.
