It's NDC and MDC that got hit. Not Hop 176 or 228

In 42 the group next to us loses people every month or so out of 20 about 10 are gone

In my group 1 person gone last week

They just hired several people in Austin

People are being let go every day and in groups that are redundant

what groups? I work in Hop 171 and have not heard of anything recent. Tucci did a pretty good job for M.D before he left. It was a slaughter house in Jan 016. Other than that a couple here a couple their since Dell took over.

You will need 2 weeks to recover once you are laid off due to sleepless nights.

It is sad to see engineers being let go. The useless management responsible for this mess are sitting pretty.

Where in 228 or 176. Which groups?

Dell has typically been 2 months salary plus an additional week for each full year of service at the individual contributor level. Also there are 7 states in the USA that require them to pay for any accrued but unused vacation time, Massachusetts being one of them. Also in Ma they are required to pay part of your unemployment benefits, so as long as you keep collecting you're still costing Dell $. I did my part by collecting the full 26 weeks before taking a plum position at a startup.

Coming from someone who worked 5 years in Hopkinton, I watched 4 people get walked out of the PSE lab in the last 2 years of my employment there. They absolutely cut people from Hopkinton and then rehire for 40% less in Utah.
