A notice was posted 8/8/17 at the locomotive shops in Altoona, Chattanooga, Shaffer's Crossing, and St. Louis stating:
"The mechanical department desires to increase the locomotive maintenance forces in Atlanta, Birmingham, Chicago, Decatur IL, Elkhart, and Kansas City Mo by adding experienced employees to meet the growing service demands."
It does not however show any signs of replacing the work force at the locations that the notice was posted. Our location only has 12 locomotive employees. Deadline to apply for transfer is 8/23/17. Two weeks to decide. Senior general foreman is hinting at layoffs.
