Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Severance Question

Does Dell or EMC offer any additional severance based on gender or age?

Example.. Over 50. 16 years time of employee. Is severance a lump sun check or distributed over time? Is severance taxable? Do folks In Texas (Roubd Rock) get paid for unused vacation?

Serious and accurate answers only please.

good thing of working in California is they can't rob you of your vacation time. Like most of my coworkers the first thing I wanted to fill up at a new job is max out my vacation time. It's a strategic reserve in case you leave the job or the job leaves you. Now there are some bs companies out there with the so called unlimited vacation sh--s like Pure Storage. avoid!!!!

Your vacation payout is based on state. For example California requires payout. Yet another east coast state does not.

I forgot to mention, severence is taxable and you don't get paid for unused vacation.

I worked for Dell and got layed off at over 50 years of age. No special treatment for age. Severence was a lump sum that came around six weeks after layoff. Had to sign a contract to get paid. Had to return all Dell owned equipment first. Also had to agree to not say anything negative about Dell. Also got free LHH career counseling services. Took advantage of that. You should too. I was with EMC then Dell for 16 years.
