What do you define as non-politically correct? I thought so. You can't. Any employee can have a perceived or imagined 'offense' at virtually anything. The PC culture at Chevron is truly Orwellian. Leaving work to go home is like returning to the world of sanity. That is why so many people keep to themselves and don't want to get drawn into non-work discussions.

I'm a person who speaks up and backs up what I say. The catch is, I say what needs to be said at the right time, in the right place, to the right person, in the right way. You can have your opinions and even your prejudices, just know that some things cannot be spoken freely in some places. Chevron is obviously a place with very little tolerance for non politically correct ideology or jokes. Your workplace is the last place to be perceived as an idiot or immature person. Speak up when you have something intelligent to contribute and back it up coherently or just put in your 8 or 9 hours and go home. Everyone can respect that kind of person.

I'm in etc. It is exactly like that. Everyone is afraid of saying the wrong thing. So no one says anything...

It's you who lives in a shell, -3hqu or you are one of the management types who perpetrates the downfall of this company.

3srx. I didn't' realise that Chevron had two MCBU's. Maybe your MCBU is in a parallel universe, you know the one in which you reside...

I'll give you a tip. If you are going to post garbage at least make it seem plausable.

JW has made this company a liberal bastion of complete political correctness and multiculturalism in its totality. I was in MCBU and can say that virtually no one would socialize with another coworker. Not at lunch, not during work hours. Everyone too afraid that they would be reported for saying something, anything, that might be offensive to a snowflake coworker and end up getting reported to the manager or HR. Once in a while, a couple people would talk together, but only in low voices with the office door closed, or in the elevator area, or in the stairwell. You could never trust anyone because of the backstabbing. People just kept to themselves and only interacted when there was a meeting. Truly sad. Chevron is a cult. Chevroids are the kool aid drinking cult believers. Stay away and work for another oil company if possible.

No truer words, 2vzj. It's refreshing to read. JW has surely ruined this company on all fronts. Most of the people in management positions are incompetent, can't lead or motivate. Most don't know exactly what each one of their direct reports do. Most don't care because they know it's only a temporary stepping stone in their managerial career until retirement. What kind of successful company operates this way?

New college graduates. Read this blog. Chevron is a sick with a cancer that is

Growing. The people in this company are miserable. The backstabbing is horrible and no future. You will get laid off and will have a difficult time finding a job. The industry does not want to hire anyone that has been brainwashed bychevron. Word has gotten out on the streets Go to Exxon, total, shell. John Watson has destroyed this company. Moral is horrible and no vision from its leaders. It is a sinking ship like enron

Dead wood and butthurt. That's new. This guy is on here every day attacking other people for being on here every day. Hes always going on about how great he is and how much he loves his job, which is an indication of how insecure he is. People who were laid off have great insight in to the company, especially if they were targeted. Where does this attitude that Chevron is perfect come from? Its pathetic. Perfect like Bigfoot project, Gorgon - perfect like fatalities all the time? BS to those who think anyone with something negative to say are lying. That's a childish and pathetic position to take. A coward takes this stand on a anonymous message board.

2hex, Why should I have to apply for my own job? It's closed. Done deal til' the next go round. And just because you were cut while they were cleaning out the deadwood, doesn't mean that you have to come on this site and whine like the pathetic butthurt loser you are spreading lies. Some of us have jobs that we love. I sure hope my definition of "happily retired" doesn't include me trolling the Internet sites after I was forced out to complain and whine like a pathetic baby with no life, jealous of others and always having a stick up my azz.

Then go ahead and apply at Chevron, @2lks. We'll welcome your comments on this site after you get laidoff one day. Don't disregard most of the non-childish comments you read here. They are genuine sentiments and truths from ex-employees. Chevron is not the same one I joined in 1991. I'm glad I'm gone and happily retired.

Yes, that's right, I surfed and researched many sites when I was job-shopping including the dreaded social media ones (generally useless). In fact, darn near 24-7 as a recent college grad. and before I graduated. Just not any lay-offs sites. Didn't have any need to and I have enough sense to know that the extremely biased opinion of someone recently laid off for any reason, incompetence, or whatever, was of no use to me nor anyone else looking for solid information. Sorry to burst your bubble.

1tdl, Wow, when you were in college you used the Internet and social media sites? Now that it has been established that you were basically born yesterday, no where in your post did you indicate that you had visited any "Layoffs" sites. I don't suppose you did. The Opendoor is not a layoffs site. And in any event, if you had any sense as a senior in college you would not be seeking useful information from employees who were $hit-canned by said company. I would suspect that info would be a bit tainted, as what you are posting here obviously is. And BTW, save your ridiculous Fake lines, I'm the OP and I'm not a recent college grad, no recent grads are reading or posting on here who have any sense or have a life.

It'll be hard without a prior internship at the company, even then, it won't be easy as there are cuts planned at GOM and SJVBU in the very near future.

Yeah they're hiring. You need to have a high gpa, relevant work experience, etc. unless you are a minority. All you need then is a pulse.

I would say yes, but you need to make sure you are on your game. If not you will go right back out the door. They will push you to the point of s---ing the life out of you. If you supervisor does not like you then it is over. i have worked at Shell and Exxon contract. They both treat their people better. Chevron has to much buddy buddy system. Plus, it is hard to get another job without the 5 years experience. I would go with Shell, Exxon, Saudi Aramco or Marathon. Other people on this board thought that college students don't read the boards. They do, while we were in our senior year all the students asked around with the instructor and counselors about the company. We also spoke to people who had worked previously with all the companies on social media sites. As students we also looked in the news on what was going on in the company. We looked at glass door to look at the reviews.

Most likely, there will be some college level recruiting for young petroleum engineers with high GPAs. Simultaneously, there will be some layoffs of experienced and high paid petroleum engineers. Chevron will end one career for each new hire while bringing down payroll burden.
