Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Don't cry

A massive cut is planned starting after the Earnings Release call on 8/16/2017. According to multiple anonymous sources, all departments and functions will be impacted. Upper and middle management will be whacked as is the individual foot soldiers. Red badges have already felt the wrath and more will be slaughtered. If you haven't been frugal since the beginning of this year, you better start now. The global economy is predicted to deteriorate starting in October. No hiding place.

My manager promised me a big salary hike. I will not cry for sure.

Thanks for the heads up Mr Greenspan

With such an insight into global macro economic trends you surely have no need to further toil at Cisco's slave ship...

@OLnuyVW-2shj - i assume that was your attempt at sarcasm? Try telling the ~20k people laid off over the last 5 years there are no layoffs in Cisco.

I'm service provider BU. Our team is hiring like crazy.

SP BU is only hiring directors and SVP's.

fake news. Service Provider BU is not hiring full time employees, not in engineering at least. the only hires I see are red badges. at least 20+ at last count. It's the new Cisco, hire temps only. no expenses on benefits, no WARN during layoffs.

... No one actually knows until the call.

Actually, quite a few know already. But if they're ethical, they are saying anything especially here.

I wonder how many managers will come in tonight or tomorrow night to print all the packages they have to hand out, or if HR already printed them for the managers. I'm guessing HR probably prints them and managers have to go pick them up because heaven forbid someone gets to the printer before the manager does and sees a package lying in the output tray of a printer.

Direct sales cost too much. More reliance on partners, back fill the old expensive guys with grade 8 virtual sales, stretch SEs across more accounts to keep direct touch. The old crusty AMs and service sellers will end up at wwt or other partners anyway. Days of AM/RM/OD are about over.

I will not be surprised if Sales takes a larger hit this culling season as Cisco is increasingly relying on its partners than the direct sales.

I do love this denial everyone seems to have. Fact is layoffs are more likely than not. No one actually knows until the call.

Middle management has always been the problem. The company will save millions just removing overlapping management. Why do these managers have 10-11 reports and making way more than industry standard? Management should have a minimum of 25 reports not 10.
