Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

You need knowledgeable salespeople

The Executives of this company fail to see the importance of having anyone employed that understands the automotive parts market. Only to find employees willing to take the meager amounts of low pay they have managed to offer, and using people "without" the experience has come back to bite them big time. Lets be honest, selling auto parts is not the same as selling snacks, people need help from talented people to make informed decisions when buying car parts, and only need a desire for the snack. The idiots that run Advance should be looking in the mirror now and realize they are no better then the other no talent morons they hired.

This is basically it, @OMSYZGE-upn. Not everybody can sell auto parts. Pretty much every customer will have a dozen different questions, and a salesperson should know how to answer them. When they don't, well, we know what happens. They will find a place where they can get answers while shopping parts.

That is why the AAP supply chain is the worst in the industry.

Reap what you sow... Not!

EVP - Snacks (not palatable)

SVP - GE (not a bright idea)

VP Distribution - Bare Essentials (not s-xy)

VP Transportation - United Stationers (not a real retailer)

Equals out of stock, lost inventory and missed deliveries

I have said it for years that we need executives that come from the parts industry, not electronics retailers or snack vendors, not unless we start selling parts from a vending machine

Yes the industry is diving overall, but it's worse at AAP due to the poor leadership and individuals that have no business in the industry. This is especially true of those that interact with commercial customers.

If the powers that be know exactly what they are doing then why are they hurting their beloved share holders as well as themselves, It would seem they do not know what they are doing and will continue to ride the gravy train while those below fall to the way side. Then again, this may simply be all that can be done if saving the retail end is no longer an option. Either way, many good people have been hurt by this companies short sightedness and greed, but you already know this.

No, the execs understand the big picture, which you fail to see.

The industry is going to nose dive, and has already started. The best salesperson in the world won't make a difference when the entire industry(and economy)is tanking.

Time to take your head out of the sand and get a clue what's going on in the world.

Well put. They had some great talent in some of the people from CQ. Fortunately those folks were also smart enough to leave.
