Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Is there any negotiation on the severance package amount?

My understanding is that you must sign document that says you won't sue Oracle to get your package.

Is anyone away of cases where employees have not signed and negotiated a better deal?

I'm sure anyone who has, must also have signed some type of agreement to not disclose the details. I'm asking in general not for specific details.

"Well, unless you believe that you're being terminated b/c of age or gender, then you have a case. Better thing to do in such as case is take it to your state's Attorney General and ask them to investigate. That way you don't have to spend money on attorneys.:"

Try proving THAT in the USA ( terminated b/c of age or gender, ) , biggest laugh of the day

It's a great deal if you have 20+ years of service and are eligible for the maximum payout, If you've only been there a few years ... I hope you saved some money,

No No No When you signed the offer letter, it clearly stated hire at will, you read and signed it, that meant you can work for and can quit so does O, it hired you and can let you go. Simple as that.

Take it or leave it

who are you going to negotiate with?

you think the droids executing the paperwork has any leeway to make deals?

if you don't like the terms, you don't sign on the dotted line, don't take their package and "reserve" your right to sue assuming you will get anything out of it.

Why would you sue - it's a great package. Yeah it s---s how they present it to you, but in the end it's a great deal. And I agree, being over and done with Oracle I'm in a much better place!

IF you don't like the package, file a lawsuit

I'm sure it has happened but I also expect it would be hell to take on Oracle in a legal fight. They'll have access to every email you ever sent, every online chat you've conducted via IM, or whatever, and I'd fully expect they'd trawl through each and every one looking for something to hang you with.

Not sure what grounds most people would have to sue on anyway. During my time there we were continuously made sign different disclaimers indemnifying Oracle for different things (ie: hearing problems as a result of spending time in labs). It may not seem the case now, but they're not dumb. They know how to cover themselves.

Tbh I was happy with my package. And getting Oracle out of my life completely, was an added bonus.

No. Sue if you don't like it.
