Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

CHEs are being disrespected by Humana

Just putting this out there. SNP doesn't send CRDs nor PAPs and I heard rumors that HCCP/Live Healthy may be going in that direction as well. What does that leave for CHEs to do? Sounds like CHEs will be doing clerical work and that is all. Ordering items off of OES like you work in a catalog order entry position. So basically CHEs are all putting their degrees and knowledge to such excellent use . The lack of respect from upper management for the CHEs is disheartening since many of the CHEs have advanced degrees in health related fields; unlike some of the PHCs who have social work and psychology backgrounds CHEs actually have knowledge of health and medical issues.

*I am not knocking PHCs and the wonderful work they do and people that they are. Just stating a point about knowledge base and how HAH leverages the talent that they have.

Agree with @OOysIlC-zft 100%. What is the point of all of this?

responding in the same nasty small minded style as the OP.

Wow that was nasty. Health / wellness is not important?

If CHE's are so well educated and such experts they will find it easy to get another job. Lord knows the Worlds needs more 'wellness' educators...

HCM RN here. I have so many members who need the TLC offered by the HCM SS to call the company and get the PAP approved by phone. With some of these folks that say that they want it mailed out, only a handful follow through. If I was in my 60s, 70s and 80s, I would appreciate the HCM SS who makes those calls with the members. Thank you!

to the previous poster I'm not sure how many calls you need to make but to help with assisting if you task the che to send the pap directly to the member this can help CHE's out in having more tasks. I am not sure if this will be more beneficial to both parties or not just an idea :)

As an hcmss, I have never tasked a Che to send out a pap application, we call with the member the pap directly and have them send it to them...

Being a PHC that is a social worker... with many many years in healthcare. I am offended... we should get together and not tear each other down.

Yes! Below poster, we are over analyzing, and the truth is none of us know the criteria this "outside company" is using to determine who goes.

I'm a PHC and my background has nothing to do with social work, and who knows at this point of that will even be a factor. I'm done trying to guess....

Honestly I will be so glad when they announce the layoffs. I believe the suspense make my most of us over analyze things. I'm a PHC with a master degree and I'm just as concerned as someone with less credentials.

Whatever your intent was that was in fact demeaning to PHC's. If you don't like being mistreated and/or professionally disrespected then leave. Simple as that. From what I hear HCM's don't get treated any better and they could walk out and have a new job tomorrow. It has nothing to do with your education which is clear, if not a sad state of affairs. That is a reflection of your own insecurites as an individual. So, it appears that we are at a decision point. We can get catty with each other and make inconsiderate remarks like this or we can support each other with love for our follow coworkers who are ALL in possibly different roles but stressful situations none the less.

Ideally if CHEs are done, many of them would be moved to roles such as wellness educators or other areas of health promotion, however the last couple of rounds haven't resulted in new opportunities/ offers for most anyone, so - sadly - it is unlikely. Many great skill sets - CHEs and PHCs - will be lost.
