CLOSE OUT SALE

Just wanted to ask the question...what does close out sale mean?? I hear it means the store is closing and now they are getting rid of stock ready to close the store. Can anyone answer this so I know what's happening in my store, cause the managers aren't talking. They can't be oblivious, they just think we're stupid!!

Closeouts begin near retail value and decrease the longer they're out.

@wql...wow. Guess it's different for different stores then. In our store, we don't do anywhere near the amount of clearance markdowns we used to do. Hardly any. The only racks we have yellow signs on instead of red are racks of merchandise that are seasonally dated items (stuff we would normally have pink-ticketed). In our store, the "blowout sale" is directed at these items; everything else is a regular sale as per usual. We were told by our DM that the point of this sale is to sell through all of our dated (spring and summer) merchandise to make room for fall merchandise.

Wso ... you are 100% correct , just signs , nothing extra taken off anything, we were told to push anything VOM, OM, 991 out to the center isle to get the blow out signs . All the regular red sale signs have been chsmged to yellow, so the customer thinks is clearance.

@hme I think he means that this sale means nothing. We are putting signs and theirs nothing special with the product prices some are ok, but its like any regular sale their isnt anything extra special about this "blowout sales" aka meaning its just a fake gimmicky try to brain wash the customers and get them all riled up.

A closeout is when you're no longer getting that specific item and the store wants to sell off its remaining stock of that item. It doesn't mean your store is closing.

No does nt mean your closing, if it did the entire central district is closing. We are doing the same right now , whats upsetting was putting up the FAKE SALE signs last week ..that was the exact term used in email... use the yellow topped sign paper so customers think its on sale. AS said below te layoffs on thursday, i hope im on that list , this company has become pond scum. We are people, with lives and families. The store managers send out emails and texts about this huge BLOW OUT SALE and how important it is, then turn around and take the weekend off. Pitifully in my eyes. Set the example as a leader then we will follow. Treat us like crap, thats the result you will get. Hey you SGM's go sit in your offices and yell at us some more, then wonder why we are all bitter. Wake up you fools

Yes, our store had it for a month to liquidate spring and summer merchandise. At least that's what they said!!! Who really knows what they're up to anymore. They say more layoffs Thursday...

They are running blow out sales I think in both formats as a marketing tag. It has nothing to do with stores closing.....just what they are calling the type of sale.
