AAP needs to focus on new customers

Another note, AAP's fastest growing segment for the past few years have been Hispanic customers and female DIY types. Maybe AAP should cater to those more...and try to continue to grow their historic customer base, they can't because they don't think.

So much this, @OPksuQH-pgo. We seem to be completely stuck in the past, instead of taking advantage of an opportunity that is right in front of us. The numbers don't lie, but for some reason, they keep getting ignored. Times are changing. There is a new segment of market (a few, actually) out there ready to be tapped, I just hope we realize it and take advantage of it before somebody else does.

They don't have anybody prospecting for new business. They can't even hold on to what they have now with all the cuts to hours in the stores. If we got a new customer he wouldn't stay long due to the fact we can't service what we have now.

OP. You aren't going to save this company or your job, and if you think you know more than the execs you're delusional.

They know where growth is coming from, they aren't idiots. But they also see a big picture you're clueless of. There's so much more at play here than you think.

Go back to your cubicle or desk, think long vas hard about what you'll do when HR calls one day for a meeting, and if you're really feeling ambitious, turn the TV off and educate yourself on what's REALLY going on in the economy and world.

That will require more than watching CNN or FOX. You'll have to actually think and read.

Advance has known for years about the Hispanic and female market. In many stores that are in concentrated Hispanic areas you can barely find an employee that speaks English. I have worked in Advance stores where they catered to having employees that were bi-lingual paying them more per hour and giving preferred treatment only to see the profits fall as the bi-lingual employee gave insane discounts to the Hispanic customers to the point we would have a line of "his" customers waiting outside before his shift. Once the problem was identified it was then next to impossible to fire this employee as racial discrimination would be brought into play. So, as far as the Hispanic segment growing, Yes, as far as it being profitable, No
