Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What should we expect today?

Assuming the rumors about layoffs tomorrow are true, what should we be expecting today? Will managers be scheduling meetings for tomorrow to deliver the news? or will it be different this time given that a may be on a larger scale?

Rumor is there will be a playoff for the layoff. The winners get to stay until the next round in a few weeks while the loser has to pack up and go home.

@OUAwOi9-1evy:

Yes I am an SVP who is laughing his backside off at the moronic people on this site.

Maybe I'm even one of the smarter H1B employees who so many people are afraid of losing their jobs to and who has to go back home if something happens to his job.

Or I'm the prettiest HR lady you laid your eyes on and I'm going to swear by Oracle all day long because they pay me very well.

Or I could just be a regular engineer with a sense of humor.

The beauty of anonymity is - who can tell.

Coming to think of it, most other HR and management at Oracle lack humor. So, maybe YOU are one of them.

Youre wrong. It wasn't pushed out in Jan. The rumors here were just wrong for weeks prior to the layoffs on here. Similar to the 24th being wrong as well. Too many people posting who are just not in the loop.

It is not uncommon for layoffs to be pushed off from their target dates in the last few days due to delays in the processing of the final lists. I believe that was the case with the SPARC layoffs in January. They were planned for the 13th but were pushed to the 19th.

Maybe Palantir will buy us out, so their Gestapo database will run on next-gen Sparc machines

I had heard early September or the end of August. It was only a few weeks ago that the 24th came up so we'll have to see what happens.

It was never the 24th so the concept of "pushed" is a misnomer. People reading this site like it was gospel.

Heard that the employment verification tool is showing some people in BRM as inactive with a termination date of 8/31. This could be hearsay,

Check your vacation balance...if it shows 0 hours (and you previously had hours), then you're out the door tomorrow b/c your FedEx is already on the way wit your final check.

"1:1or allhands will be scheduled. In some divisions rumored to have layoffs tomorrow m4+ are still in the dark if it's happening or not. This is being handled poorly by ES."

I would say ES has handled it very well; HR must be very proud.

Last time, my manager got the news late Wednesday evening. You may be given a 1:1 with your manager later today or tomorrow morning if you are to be laid off. If you are safe, you may be invited to a group meeting tomorrow.

Look for a FedEx notification saying a package is to be delivered tomorrow.
