Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

No pity please

I was one of hundreds of SM's whose job was eliminated this past January. I had a tough time job hunting when I realized I was too young (and financially unable) to retire, yet too old to be a viable candidate in today's market. Cut to the chase three months later, I found out I have cancer and am undergoing treatment. I had to look at the positive and realized that losing my job took me away from an increasingly stressful environment. I'm not writing this for any sympathy and certainly not for pity. Just a word of caution as I see that jobs are still being cut and will likely continue to be after the holidays.

I got sent home in February and the a**hole manager refused to give reference to the recruiters to be "politically correct" (CYA policy). These people who survived that wave think they are invincible. Here is the news people, its is coming for you. One of the associates who I secretly gave reference to last year got me a job at his workplace within a month. our kindness and courtesy goes a long way in hard times. Karma is a b--ch, what goes around comes around.
