The associates will have to start thanking the customer for being a Gold or Platinum Macy's card holder. It begins when the customer starts to swipe her card. Better coupons will start printing for the most loyal customers as well. Associate training starts next month.

I think this is a good change - I also think we should have done this long time ago. The moment Amazon's Prime hit the street we should have realized how damaging this would be for the whole industry.
I hope we can somehow recover but it'll be hard.
Keep in mind that gold/platinum spends on average 5 times more than a regular customer - it makes sense for us to offer the benefit.
Gold and platinum card holders will get free shipping all the time online and store sends. Also platinum card holders get 5% back in Macys money basically. Employees are eligible
