Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

New round of layoffs at Nike starting next week?

Lay offs worldwide starting next week. Cuts will be deep, they have even fanned out global security to assist as expecting folks to be very upset. Heard Canada got to go first today, haven't heard total numbers but almost entire departments cut from the reports I've heard about.

The culture has changed and it will not be in the companies favour in the long term. Morale is at an all time low, which is not good when things are tough in the marketplace already. Remember August 2017 in this companies history as this will change the face of Nike.

Good luck friends/family at WHQ. It all starts Aug 28.

Brought over from another thread. Anybody has more info on this? Confirm or deny the rumor?

Unfortunately the swagger could not last...And how is a company of 40 or 50 plus somethings going to understand the tastes of the changing target market of youngsters?? It's not enough to just work hard, but have leadership that is in step with changing times.

Between 450-500 layoffs are planned for the week of August 28th at WHQ (multiple functions impacted). Additional layoffs will take place globally (outside of WHQ). This is only round 2...

There was approximately 25 in Canada yesterday out of maybe 75-85 people in CHQ. Almost all functional areas. Some areas wiped almost completely. A lot of people with 15-25 years

Pretty sad given how well Canada performs and how short staffed they were to begin with.

@OWXdrAI this sounds legit yet I am skeptical. There may be (and have to be) cuts but I doubt it'll be deep.

We have several hundred VPs pushing paper around - I'd start by eliminating that layer completely - keep a handful of them and move on - the work is done in the trenches, status collectors are just a burden.
