Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Macy's leads the year with 10,000 announced layoffs so far

Well, at least we are first at something, right? Macy's is the top company in number of layoffs for this year so far. I wonder if this number will stay on 10,000, or if we are looking at more layoffs down the line.

If they are following the plan I suspect they are, somewhere between 1/3 to 1/2 of all employees (calling us associates is a cop out) will be gone. Plan would take about 5 years to complete and will effectively do away with a large number of the stores (possibly 50%), most of what used to be called mst and possibly a small chunk of mcom. Macy's is in transition from bricks and mortar to online retailer. There will be a (un)happy medium between B&M and online. Where that point is, isn't yet known.
