Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Another unannounced change in Automotive

I had a customer ask for an alignment today. He asked what options he had. I explained the 6 month, 1 year and the 3 year alignment programs. The customer took the 3 year option. When I went to write it up, I found out the 3 year alignment no longer was available. I had to back peddle quickly and keep the sale by converting it to a 1 year plan. So what happened to the 3 year option? Are we only here for 1 more year? That would be my guess. When the stand alone stores are change over to Die Hard Service Centers next year they don't want to be burdened with warranty issues.

You may have quit selling the 3 year plan because the lifetime plan was only $20 more. But they all existed at the same time. $89.99-6mth, 114.99-1year, 169.99-3year, and 189.99-lifetime. Yes, it was announced 2 weeks ago that the lifetime plan was gone. The other three still were available. There was never an email advising that the 3 year plan was gone. But I don't know why I even care. We're all gone in the coming months!

He's not wrong though. If the "unannounced " change was actually announced awhile ago that makes a lot of this post irrelevant doesn't it?

I'm all for seeing posts like the original but only the accurate parts.

The fact that the longer plans were removed does raise some questions though, announced or unannounced.

We quit selling the 3 year about a year ago when they started back with the lifetime. It was left in tpos because it was to be used with the maintenance plans. Since we quit selling the maintenance plans last month they took it out of tpos. Also a few weeks ago they anouced they we are no longer to sell lifetime and it will be removed from tpos shortly. You know if you would read your automotive communication emails you would already know all this.

A year? Doubt it. I'd be impressed if Sears lasts 6 months. Would require another half billion or so out of Eddie's pocket.

This madness cannot continue, and so it won't

Yeah that isn't a good sign, is it?

Correct. One year left for the entire company. That was on the news already.
