Here is a crazy idea to save Lowe's money

Easy way to save money for lowe's

  1. Stop waiting to close at 10pm. close at 9 1800+ stores save one hour of labor per associate.

  2. Stop scheduling Specialist past 7PM or as soon as 8AM. Cant help people that are not their and can not call installers or vendors until they open at 8-9AM They would save on this. The CSA of the departments could close if need be. Specialist get paid more for product knowledge and additional help beyond the aisles. No point of wasting that extra money if you do not have any customers.

  3. Possibly remove head cashiers. Front End Service manager has a job to look after cashiers I know they have overrides but that could change

  4. Possibly open at a later time like 7-8AM. I understand most of customers are contractors and installers and they start early but they only start that early because we open that early.

These ideas could save them Millions of dollars a month company wide. You are welcome Lowe's!

Lowes here stays open an hour longer than Home Depot. Why not at least close when Home Depot does? Don't pay specialists to pull internet orders or pull deliveries when a lower paying person can do this. Specialists should be on the floor selling and dealing with customer questions. Our specialists in certain departments, especially appliances, sell consistently a quarter to a third of the daily sales in the store. If there are not specialists in the department, customers get mad and go to Home Depot. Or they come back in complaining that there is never anyone in the departments....because they are in the back pulling orders, etc. We are losing a lot of OPE sales now because there isn't anyone in the department to help sell the tractors or mowers. Customers complain about that so I take it as losing the OPE sales specialist as being a failed attempt in this store anyway. Stop giving away the store to customers whenever they gripe about the smallest thing. Customers know if they complain then Lowes will give them whatever they want so they constantly complain whenever they make a purchase. The real problem is poor management decisions like these that are affecting the bottom line.

They will never do that because of the stock. Closing an hour early and opening hour late will kill a struggling company more. The stock will tank cause they will have reduced top line numbers and the morons who inflated this stock will loss a ton. They dont care and wall street doesn't care about profitablilty. All they care about is growth. Look at amazon and they still losing money but because they are growing more people put money in to it.

How about no more bonuses for those at the top?

Why should they get Rich at our expense? The money should be spent on better pay for store level associates and more store level associates. It was said when the ASMs were reduced that there would be more associates helping customers. We have yet to see a single new associate. All new positions are part time.

There is not enough coverage to schedule specialists only specific shifts

Also no one needs to be fired because what you do next is make rotating department associates which would promote cross training and also provide more coverage to the sales floor. 4 hours in one neighboring department then 4 at the original one and vice versa.

Also if you want to keep internet sales running early then have a shift based on only internet sales from 5am to 2pm and 11am to 7pm. Store floor shifts from 7am to 4pm and 11am to 8pm. Store saves 8 hours per department. Do the math how much that would save Lowes in the long run $$$$

Also benefits over night associates as they can do freight as soon as they get there at 9pm and dont have to wait for all customers to be out of the store. 9pm to 5am Nightcrew

Better idea is to open at 8AM and Close by 7PM and associates leave by 8PM

Leaves more time for associates to do last minute stuff before calling it a day. Also gives stores more flexibility to schedule associates to do close and open shifts due to there being more hours of rest in between. The store saves money in unnecessary business hours and employees come to work at a normal rested hours.
