Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

keeping my eyes and ears open

I apologize up front as I also posted this in the Energy Connections blog but I wanted to cover as much territory as possible.

With Mr. Stokes assuming command of the combined GE Power and GE Energy Connections units, what is the possibility (or likelihood) of layoffs (engineers to be specific) spreading out into the Energy Connections "body"? Our EC location has not won any new projects since Jan. 1 and our existing project work is almost completed. Also, I was on vacation when a webcast was held for Energy Connections' 2nd Quarter results. Did anyone watch it and what are the results, if I may ask

The office being closed is in Canton, OH which reports to the Grid Solutions office in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

What location do you report to?

Well, it's official. The location I report to will be closing by the end of the 3rd Qtr. A few will only receive a severance package and the rest will be given the option to either relocate or leave. This is a relatively small office in Energy Connections with a good work ethic and very good EPC talent. This just doesn't make sense but then what does? GE has to show proof that they are serious about achieving the $1B in cost reductions so seemingly everybody, everywhere is a target... except maybe the upper crust😕

It's a high probability. Coming soon. Nothing you can do about it except take your knowledge and work ethic elsewhere. GE doesn't care
