What are your thoughts: Impact of electric vehicles on parts businesses

Before you guys jump on me and tell me that I am insane, let me preface this with a statement that I do NOT expect electric cars to enter mainstream within next 10 years. However, I feel that at some point sales (let's say in 20 years) will pick up and we'll have different vehicles on roads.

It's my understanding that electric vehicles are much simpler mechanics-wise and need less parts to operate (no fluids, etc.) - hence, they break less.

What are your thoughts on the impacts of this possible change on our our business.

Thanks.

I think it will certainly have an impact. To what extent I'm not sure and I think that is yet to be seen. It will likely slowly creep in though as it takes time for people to catch up with technology. People are holding onto cars longer and budgets come into play when dealing with vehicles.

Before any of this though I don't see all of the big 3, autozone, oreiley's, or aap making it with Amazon getting into the game. Personally I don't even know if there would even be an acquisition in the future, I'd personally let the competition die off rather than pay for it just to shut it down later.
