Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Q4 bonus

My bonus posted today. $925 after taxes. What a joke. That's less than 20% than others on my remaining team. It also is half of my Q3 hold back. They really screw you after being laid off

It's garbage because it's the truth. Ask your manager why and they'll tell you. I get that it's uncomfortable for an individual to hear the truth but sometimes you need to hear the real reasons instead of the sugar coated version. No top performers missed pay raises/bonues/RSUs. In fact sometimes all of them are given to one person in a year.

Only top performers get pay raises, bonuses and RSUs. If you're wondering why you did not get any of the rewards then ask yourself about your own performance...

people post here as if its normal that they got something i can give you a wake up call, if you got something you belong to the top elite in Oracle who still gets things. The last time i got shares was 7 years ago and after that i got told in Oracle only VPs really get that, they were even surprised in HR that i got some. Then regards bonus or salary also have not got anything last 7 years while having all these years exceptional reviews. Yes i am in the hardware business part in which Oracle doesn't seem having any interest in investing, i am waiting for my package and get the hell out of here. I'm just so disappointed in this company for which i worked my a-- off for so long and at the end being dumped like garbage.

I am also in the Sun Micro side of Oracle (engineering, not sales) and have received raises and options/RSUs multiple times in the past five years, and know others who did too. But Oracle limited those to the top 10-20% so most did not - far less evenly distributed than they were at Sun. But hey, you can get a Mac soon, so retention will be solved!

Sounds like someone's not a top performer.

Sorry for the confusion. I call my commission payment a "bonus" because I'm in pre-sales without a quota. The max for my role is $32,500. In FY17, I received $4920. Not even close... others on my team got about $5000 in Q4 when I got $920. My manager was laid off too so someone else calculated the distribution amounts. He has it in for me. Obviously since I was laid off...

Understood you upset because you get less before, wait for few years, you will be same of others, have overtime work, but no overtime pay, no raise, no bonus, nothing, you won't even bother to ask or complain any more.

Being ruthless, self-serving and uncaring is a cultural trait at Oracle that flows down from the very top which is why stories of customers, partners and employees getting screwed over are so plentiful. There is plenty of reason to blame Oracle overall for what happened to you. However, managers have a good deal of discretion when it comes to bonuses, so your reduced check is likely a direct reflection on the character of your direct manager or someone in the chain of command.

From what I've heard, bonuses were significantly low to begin with because the achievement target was set ridiculously high. The company walked away with a growth year, the executives all celebrated and their stock options climbed in value, but the employee bonuses indicated that the year was a failure. That is bad enough, but to have your bonus slashed to under 20% of what others made is terrible.

I'm sure that this s---s and that anger will percolate for a while, but just remember that revenge is a life well lived. I hope you find another job with better pay, colleagues, management and products and, in hindsight, end up being glad that you are no longer subjected to the toxicity that is Oracle.
