What support does ETC provide DWEP that would justify cuts because of the DWEP - GGOM consolidation, out of curiosity?

This is confirmed. Management is being very quiet about it

It's all relative. When your peers are all grossly obese (for today's low oil price environment) and you say that ETC is lean relative to its peers, I think ETC can still afford to lose some weight.

Is there any validity to this rumor? ETC is lean relative to its peers.

That's right, 5lff. There's no substitute for experience, except that Chevron thinks we're to expensive to keep around. History will show them they were wrong to lay us off. We still were worth every Dollar we earned.

ETC does not have great people anymore. Most SMEs are book learned only without practical experience. That is a huge short coming on the part of ETC. Of course now that the company has and continues to eliminate anyone with experience there is no way for ETC to be fixed.

Although they may have served a purpose decades ago, there are several ETC- type groups and functions in CVX that need to be evaluated as to whether they serve that purpose in today's industry.

1pxv - Both ETC and PRC is the home of the "ole boys club". They will be there even after HR has been reduced.

Why isn't PRC facing a significant staffing reduction ?

Cvx is a pm ops company, no engineering in site. No need to have a etc, they just need to farm the rest of it out as well. Maybe they can call xom when the bus have tech questions? I agree etc needs to be cut in half and adopt a different business model. The bus hate etc, etc management is oblivious to this.

Never understood ETC's "place in the Sun" in CVX anyway. 60's 70's mentality of an oil company branching out. No need for it today. Insulting to BU departments having to run to ETC to get "approval" for stupid 101 sh--.

Good riddance. Extortionate charges to BU' s , questionable "advice" at best. Any excuse for a free trip overseas. Expertise if needed that could be bought in short term. Bye bye.

It makes sense for ETC to shrink even more. It's a very costly business unit.

Hopefully ETC will be gone together with the costly, cumbersome outdated processes that justify their existence.

What parts of ETC will be impacted? All disciplines or just the ones supporting DWEP?
