Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Severance and Rehired

If you are severed and rehired within under 180 days you retain your continous service days, which I take to mean the day you were hired PRIOR to you getting severed. Question is once you are rehired, do you qualify for the corporate severance program in the event you should be severed a second time?

Yes, you would be eligible for severance again less any severance you use. For example, let's say you've been at the bank for 10 yrs and get 20 wks severance. You get laid off but come back three weeks later. If you were to get laid off again, let's say a year later, you would be eligible for 19 weeks. 20 weeks plus the 2 weeks for the add'l year you worked, less the 3 weeks you used.

There are other companies to work, find another job and keep your severance, why are ppl going back to be treated like crap knowing they might get thrown out again?

Yes. I had seen folks get laid off in 2016, called back 2 weeks later, worked for another year, then laid off again with another 2 weeks added to their severance.
