Intel is planning to truly tap into Internet of Things. Sound like a good idea, if we can actually keep the progress in this segment going as well as it has been in the past two years, and further add to it.

One things that comes thru in intel messaging is that it wants to supply the same building blocks to all iot products. Goodfor intel but i doubt iot companies want their differentiation and advantages to be homogonized. It is like asking all the sports car makers to use the same engine. Not likely. Besides all the low cost/margin pressure that will scare intel.

@ljs you missed a point ... iot is a game of scales with tiny profit margin. I don't think Intel is poised for any win in this space

@1nba - Intel is schizophrenic at this point. Says one thing, does the opposite. IoT, VR/AR, AI, ADAS, etc. are all perfect examples of this.
Intel just cancelled three IOT products and fired 150 members of the IOT team in Santa Clara and Ireland. How does the emphasis on IOT match the actions?
Intel doesn't get IoT. BK and his cronies think that IoT means "Take a PC, shrink it down and put it in a car/fridge/TV". I could go to Best Buy and get an Internet connected fridge over 10 years ago, and that crap failed. Cars already have what essentially amounts to PCs in them. That is not a new market either.
The IoT market is supposed to be about things that do NOT yet have a computer inside them. The chair I sit on. The plate I eat from. The whiteboard I write on. The garden hose I use to water my plants. And yes, there are use cases for each of these, but Intel is not innovative enough to see them. And even if they did, Intel does not have the ultra-low power chips to compete in these areas. That is completely the world of ARM and custom chips.
@OkXG7WX-szu Well maybe not a 0% chance... from a computational perspective X86 is in a lot of ways desirable in IOT devices. But since it would require REAL top down leadership and not just slideware from Intel Senior management... the probability of Intel achieving market dominance in IOT is like (1.0E-x)%
