Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

The Plan

DWEP+ GOMBU reorg to form "new" merged GOMBU. 2017 reorg done by August. No EOI. Reorg includes ROM. DWEP+GOM ROM includes 12% closed positions. 2200 total DWEP+GOM according to VP MH in previous townhall.

The FAQs say O&M and HR are not part of this ROM. What is the O&M plus HR headcount? 200? More, less? Regardless, 12% of 2200 means around 264 jobs lost, unless you go to a PDC. VP MH says 66% jobs stay as is and that means that in addition to the closed jobs, 22% of positions or 484, will be opened for ROM posting.

So all in all, about 750 people (34% of total staff) will be affected with a net loss of 264 (minus PDC successes). However, affected personnel represent more than 34% of the new org when you subtract out HR and O&M.

Will the severance package be the same as last year and the year before?

To "@OksrdqX-ygh", you make a good point. What is necessary is the asset teams and development teams. Everything else is a 50% reduction at minimum. your 30% might be a good minimum!

Sounds like management is getting ready to Court a suitor to take the company over in a merger......

The existence of so much redundancy in middle management at Chevron is done by design. It's the cover that upper management has purposely installed so that when real cuts must be made, middle management become the expendable ones, not them.

Ygh- you are right on about the stacks of redundancies. Middle managers with the same jobs, 100% overlaps.

Why no EOI? Are there concerns of the possible embarrassment of the numbers who want to leave?

I can't believe that by combining two organizations they can only eliminate 12% of positions. There should be 100% redundancy in all management and support positions. I would expect a 30% cut minimum. Weak management is what put these two units in such terrible shape they are merging. Missing this opportunity to fix it means the Underperformance and layoffs will continue.
