DXC Vacation Policy

I may join, about to interview - I know it's tough - but need money. Anyhow, does someone know what the DXC vacation policy is?

As a former DXC employee with over 17 Years at the Company I can give you a unique perspective. During my tenure I was 100% billable, delivering consistency week after week on global projects. Yet, in the middle of a crucial phase of a global project, with a understaffed team as it is, DXC opt'd to cut over 750 employees in a single day.

While I can appreciate this individual's respect and loyalty to his co-workers ..."I'm growing tired of hearing that "they've cut all if the good staff.". There are thousands of employees and you do not know or wok with all of us", I can only ask one question. Can you 100% guarantee your Customers that you (and your respected colleagues) will be there to deliver for them through the end of their project?

The answer is of course no. Many factors could impact this decision, but the 1000 pound gorilla in the room will be DXC Layoffs coming. I'd polish my resume' and start looking for those wearing their rose colored glasses.

Please note that the DXC flex vacation is not an open policy. Employees of mine received warnings in April due to excessive days OOO. The reality is they were only taking 2 hours for a Dr appointment. But HR sees it as not a full day worked so they were dinged.

I would check very carefully what they can offer in terms of renumeration and education. If you are at the outset of your career, then there may be better options. I am just in the process of leaving DXC, but you won't hear me ditch the company or it's predesssors. I have always been in technical and customer embedded project roles, so generally have found the HP / DXC experience positive until quite recently. I have been lucky enough to work with some of the best technical people the industry has to offer, but feel DXC has lost its direction and has failed to develop improved solutions to meet the business challenges in todays market. To be honest the current leadership have generally failed the company, shareholedrs and employees. My advice is do what feels best for you, give what you can take what they can offer you will generally benefit from the experience. Good luck.

Sorry for my overly flippant post, of course there are some good people left at DXC, I know many. But I stand behind the view that they only have about 30% of the REAL talent they actually need to meet basic client obligations, and the truly talented people left are bearing the brunt of it. Assuming you are strong and experienced, surely you know this. If you aren't feeling any problem, you are likely to be one of the people that many on this board are complaining about.

Serving your clients with duct tape and twine. Company remains out of compliance on major contracts and delinquent with payments to vendors. You can be tired of the griping but the bad things are still real.

Understand needing a job, any port in a storm scenario. Use time with DXC wisely do not ever get complacent about employment there. Get skills, keep updated with skills, contacts and trends, cultivate opportunities and move on to a more stable company when you can.

Just for your reference. I have witnessed they rid off two account leads and replaced with a "newbie". The two leads were quality employees. I surmised they are making what considered above average salary, hence subject to the WFR. The "newbie" got to inherit job duties from both and working under stressful situation.. all the while they B$$ll Sh$$t the "newbie" it's a "promotion".. something for you to consider what you may be facing...

Don't let the 'unlimited vacation' spin fool you. The main caveat is that you can take vacation when business conditions permit and your manager approves.

They have cut all the quality staff, and then they have cut the not-so-good staff. Nothing is getting done, and so business conditions will often not permit you to take vacation when you want. This is especially true for the overworked technical staff.

Take the job as a stopgap until you find something else but expect the vacations to be hard to come by.

Last year when the USPS HPE people had open enrollment, we got CSC type health insurance and the associated costs. In general, people had higher health insurance costs. What do you think the chances are that health insurance will go up for 2018?

Work any place but here . I am not kidding. DXC is a sh#t show. No raises, no bonuses, minimal holiday (10 days per year) , useless leadership, high insurance cost.

In USA, you don't earn/accumulate vacation balance anymore. + spin is unlimited vacation. You can take up to 2 consecutive weeks off anytime as long as your manager approves it and then you have to work for 2 paychecks/4 weeks before can take more vacation day(s). Good luck with your search. Ask for vacation specifics so not relying on this info as gospel.
