Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

8 DataDomain employees laid off in RTP

This morning, 8 DataDomain employees laid off in RTP.

New dell-rules are that you get to continue working for 2 weeks.

Severance is 10 weeks + 1week/year of service.

Yes, I was told 10 weeks base plus one week for every year worked, health insurance is extended from the official layoff day and extends through your calculated number of weeks based on years worked and prorated bonus. For example if you were notified yesterday that your last day is August 4th, and you have worked there just over 5 years which equals 15 weeks severance which includes bonus and health benefits that would last through November 17th.

Also you will get 75% of your bonus prorated. Dell was set to pay out 100% for the EMC Employees September 1st and the second one around February 1st. Then in 2018, the bonus payout is set once annually. Dell's fiscal calendar year starts on February 1st.

At least I'll get some of my bonus.

Best wishes to everybody else out there.

Yep, I was one of them. They won't say how many people were affected. I asked but the HR lady said that it was proprietary information. How is it known that 8 people were affected? Well thank God for this website at least we can get up-to-date information outside the stupid company.

And I agree with that cleaning house statement down below. Incompetence gets promoted, well-rounded engineer's get the boot.

Yes - health insurance is extended through the severance pay period. For example, if you had 5 years of service, you'll get 10+5=15 weeks of severance, with healthcare for that entire time.
