Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Appraisals!!!

The appraisal process should have been over, with all employees appraisal signed off and ratings entered by 6/15. However this has not been the case and from what I'm hearing from reliable sources some parts of the WWOPS department appraisals have not been signed off/ ratings entered. I heard managers were told not to enter ratings or sign off appraisal until further notice.

I'd like your thoughts on this? Has this to do with the layoffs coming you think?

Appraisals at Oracle are critical to where you end up on the spreadsheet. There are no raises at Oracle, so expectations that a perfect 5 for all aspects of HR rating system, with testimonies from other Oracle employees in other teams has no value. Typically it is a cut and paste job every year, fiddle with the text. Underrate yourself one one aspect so HR sees you interact with your manager to "fix". BTW the process is legally suppose to be finished in June. But 3 month sliding windows occur do to workload, nobody can get to it etc...

Ain't it great. The illusion of actual meaningful feedback and metrics on performance.

Always had Excellent exceeds expectations....

Bolted before hammer came down, smartest people left for more money and better positions elsewhere. Most shifted far away from Oracle...

Appraisals at Oracle is a joke. I got 4-5 ratings 5 years straight but no increments or bonus. Go figure. Worst company to work for

Make sure you don't miss the pint here. The whole point of LE's management "philosophy" is that any manager can do whatever they want, no matter how stupid and dysfunctional, b/c that way LE doesn't have to think about it. So no matter how stupid or incompetent a manager may be, they're in charge and there is no recourse b/c LE wants to spend his time sailing not managing

Yeah, isn't it absolutely amazing that HR exercises no control over whether the appraisals are reasonalble and based on fact! A manager could give his entire group lousy grades and nobody in HR would blink b/c they wouldn't even know or care. Any A:hole manager can do whatever they want regardless of how unreasonable and in fact stupid it is

some managers will still give people 2 in the rating to piss people off.

in my department everyone writes their own appraisal and if you don't overrate yourself the management just approves it, what a joke

I just give myself 5's with the entry of "does it matter?". Upper mgmt know they will give you 10 types of reasons why there is no money or if you are lucky, a microscopic raise.

Appraisals are 'fake news' in some departments. Some have not had any for years. It's all window dressing

Performance appraisals at oracle is a total joke, they mean nothing and they are not done on time. Just another example how totally useless HR is and how management just plain doesn't care about treating people appropriately.

No real appraisal at Oracle. It depends on your manager. I have been told that they have an 'internal performance list' for everyone in their team. The official appraisal is for "fake".
