Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Non-eventful

Well after all the yappings about meeting in Dallas and speculation it's Friday and I'm done for the day and still have a job to go to on Monday in receiving.

we all think something is going to happen but the company is taking a hit with shrink...go figure and they might be rethinking what they are doing. Really hard to get thru the week with hardly any freight. Hopefully it's because it's the end of month and quarter and things pick up. Do you remember the days of tally sheets and hand written slot tags?...and checking in Daymark f/c stuff. we have come a long way but to bad now it might cost people their jobs.

Once all companies like water and paper switch to ASN receiving will be much easier. I think the rumor of switching back to a type of day receiving makes most sense. A shift of 2am to 10 or 3am to 11am would cover both. That way you wouldn't need night lead AND day lead. And one manager could cover all of receiving. Invoice clerk is unfortunately not needed. The bills will probably go to a manager or given to business office ..they arent that time consumming. I know some invoice clerks do 99 orders but they are assigned by home office for ptc. I could see a part timer in office doing that too.

On6FEcd-1ijw. left out recv tl that title is on the line as well. there is no team . only teams to lead are from bakery to floor. not so sure that's even necessary. more like 2 or 3 true floor supervisors could do it. Too many chiefs and bean counters in Bentonville and none of them get it , what the real world, AKA working in the clubs, is really about.

we've been guessing invoice clerk, marketing lead, accounting lead and ptc are going to be definite goners. if its going to happen, just do it. 2nd quarter ends next week. hope this doesn't drag out through the holidays.

They did away with the invoice clerk also at Wal-Mart last year but still have a receiver. I know things are going to change. It makes me sad. I think they will keep a part timer in receiving or something. My night guy can't do all the trucks now I have to come in early to help him. 1 night guy will not be able to do it without a day person. They don't do the McClanes truck at night.I do it when I get there. Home office has no clue on how each club runs. They all run different depending on your crew.

to anyone that knows receiving you can't be wearing rose colored glasses for the last couple of months. With asn happening with dry dc and it says the claim associate will file for any o/s/d,no fresh detail receiving, automated scheduling of freight in the works, hardly anything comes in on UPS,etc anymore and they want to push water and paper trucks thru the dc's what do you think is going to happen? office is a fraction of what it use to be

Can someone tell me if their club got the new money counting machine yet? those people are going to be gone too just in case know one know they did away with the ptc at walmarts years ago and management takes care of personnel so I think they are going by wayside too

they can have as many conference calls as they want but something is coming and it's not good for us hourly associates
