Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

Round Two...

Next step is to cut all of the store field staff. Starting with CSM's and CAM's. Plan is to market to the commercial customer with a discount in lieu of representation. The END is near.

Hey AAP guy, since you brought that up, how's the AAP doing? What's the stock price been doing? How is AAP's turnover rate? How does AAP compare to O'Reiley and Autozone? What's AAP's market share done lately? How did integrating the 2 companies go?

A brainless goon can buy anything he or she wants. It doesn't mean they are smarter, better at business, or know how to treat people good. The culture at AAP is disgraceful. Execs have come and gone. GMs at the store and warehouses have come and gone. A good company retains talent, not serve as a revolving door. But hey, you bought Carquest, congratulations on an accomplishment.

Customer service has gone way down to cutting hours in the stores. Not just commercial but DIY also. Forget commercial because Advance is going to lose most of that anyway due to service and lack of part availability. As a CARQUEST employee who now is working in an Advance store due to consolidation, I've never seen a company who don't listen to people whose main service was to the commercial customers. We have DM's who have never invoiced a part to anyone telling us how to sell parts. What a bunch of idiots. Don't know how much longer I'll be there because my customers are jumping ship.

Lower new car sales would mean cars being held longer and needing repairs. That would be a good thing for the auto parts business.

You guys realize that the auto sales boom was fueled by the lowest interest rates and loosest credit terms in history right? The last 7 years was not reality, it was a debt fueled hallucination.

Reality begins now.

No surprise. Many of the AAP field staff are unproductive as they are not qualified. The CQ guys are rapidly disappearing for better opportunities with companies that have a real commercial presence. What kind of hours does your CAM put in?

Advance does not know how to take care of their commercial customers like Carquest could. Advance was wrong in thinking the way they do business would create more commercial sales because they simply do not know what shops need and buying a successful company like Carquest is a fail when the procedures and customer care is thrown out.

They just did a re-org, I don't see them cutting all field representation anytime soon. They would lose even more business in that segment.

When is this phase 2 supposed to happen?
