Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Hiring temps amid layoffs

Humana is hiring 500 new folks on temporary bases. I understand that there is a need with upcoming enrollments, but it still leaves a sour taste in my mouth with all the layoffs and more expected to come any day now.

To be realistic, if Aetna had purchased us we would be in the midst of upheaval and cost cutting anyways and probably worse. Layoffs are brutal but a fact of life and no one is guaranteed a forever job in any company. Those days are gone and if it happens to you, you have to spend less time freaking out and more time networking and looking for whatever else is out there just in case. For every minute you spend freaking out, someone smarter than you is out there looking for other opportunities to give themselves a leg up. Your head must rule here. It your heart

Yes and many of the jobs that were lost in the first couple rounds of this year were sent to Porta RICO.

The fact that 80% of the FCM are contract workers isn't new. It's been that way for years. HAH can't afford to have associate FCMs in all of the rural and small towns where our members live.

Hopefully these temp works have experience in the insurance field and are able to give people knowledgeable information.

Yes that is what Humana is moving towards. I have posted this before that 80% of the FCM are contract workers . This information was shared and one of our quarterly meetings with BB I think back in March or April.

I totally get your frustration, but all of the big health insurance companies hire temps during open enrollment, and with this being separate from the functions of HAH, our layoffs aren't related.

It s---s though, I know, everything that has been going on this year for HAH.
