The worst part of this situation is that Intel wasted its position as a leader in the industry and its phenomenal brand. From 1995 to say 2005, there were plenty of capable leaders in the C-suite pipeline. Plenty. What happened to them? They left to take those jobs at other companies. Nope, I can't tell you why or how that happened, but plenty of them left. A few names, and where they went? Dave House - Bay Area Networks, Mike Splinter - AMAT, Bruce Sohn - First Solar, Abi Talwalker - just appeared on AMD's BoD, ... many others. Craig and Paul ran that pipeline dry to the point that BK, with such a limited base of experience, appeared to be the best choice? What a shame.
I agree with Ashraf (the author of the post on fool.com) and also with the other poster who stated that it would be very tough to take this one as an outsider. Next steps here will be interesting, that's for sure.
