Intel loves the Maker community to death

The remaining ones killed as well. Getting the ACT together.

@1dko - That's exactly the issue here - Intel has always had a problem with the in-and-out product lines, but it has accelerated under BK. New technologies have target customers that have to get a win no matter the stakes. Anyone on the outside with half a brain could smell the slideware stench a mile away. IOTG, NTG and each of the tiny-iA mini-divisions were all horribly responsible for contributing to this type of manic strategy.

The next time Intel embraces an emerging market, what prospective customer will trust that Intel is in it for the long haul? Bailing so quickly is embarrassing -- either they should have known a few years ago not to jump in or they should have hung in there to show commitment.

@tib - could not agree more. There are a lot of kids who would have benefited and the long term benefit to Intel's brand would have been immeasurable. One of the reason the hipster-fruit (Apple) fan boys are so loyal is even when Apple was about to go bankrupt they still kept putting Macs in schools.

But BK and company only see the quarterly results in front of them. Keep the numbers up long enough to deploy the golden parachute.

Intel should have given those boards for free for the maker community, at least for non-profit or research projects. The benefits of gaining traction and a good name would have been worth the $2 costs per unit.

This is just embarrassing.

How long until IOTG changes its org acronym? Because Intel knows NOTHING about IOT.
