Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Severance paperwork??

Anyone on here getting laid off the 14th? Just wondering. I turned in my paperwork for severance pkg. a few weeks ago and when I called to see if they received it I was told I will receive a signed copy back in the mail. Has anyone received their signed copy back yet? I can see Allstate dragging their feet on this. Sorry company. I guess there's 13 more work days until a lot of us are gone. No tears here, just wish I could have retired.

HI all,

I've posted in other threads but wanted to make sure to put my contact info here as well. I'm a business reporter at the Chicago Tribune and I'm trying to find out more about the layoffs. Email me, Ally Marotti, if you'd like to talk at amarotti@chicagotribune.com.

Took about 3 weeks, but I got my paperwork back. I wonder how many out there did not accept severance package and will consider filing a suit for some reason or another. Allstate has been so unfair to a lot of employees in this whole process, but it would be hard and expensive to fight a big company. Scenario I heard happened... Relocated for an Allstate job to another state, bought house and settled in and then, "boom" in one year lose that job. Unfair. If Allstate knew, this was on the horizon, they should have never put someone through that. Just my opinion.

Nobody in my office knew about the amount of layoffs going on in other offices. We haven't had a town hall meeting since the qfc announcement back in the end of last year/ early this year (don't remember exactly when it was. I see a lot of managers in meetings with the big guys and hr, and nobody thinks anything is going on. Now we have the CI team in. People think that these huddle meetings are just daily meetings. Everyone is either in denial or clueless.

I got mine back in 11 days. It says in the package that severance pay out may take up to 60 days.

No response either and I mailed out my package over 2 weeks ago. I was hoping severance would be paid out shortly after august 14 which is the official last day for laid off employees. Doesn't seem like that will be the case. May take them a month or so to pay us out.

So sorry that happened. At least you know what's going on. We're still in the dark about everything.
