Take a knee during the cheer

In protest of continual layoffs & to show support for all the associates & their families impacted by poor leadership & greed everyone should take a knee during the cheer. They need to know enough is enough & we are exhausted & deflated.

DM is ML's little B!tc#. DM is not in control. Look at all the apartments being built in Bent/Rogers. Wally is definately in burn and turn mode. They are ok with short timers. No place to bring your family for stability.

willow is quite obviously not effected by these layoffs, restructuring etc or she wouldn't be making such a silly comment. most of us are not 22 and living with the parents. we are the providers for our families. this is a very big deal that we live with everyday now wondering if this is the day.

@OtKAjqN-dqi Willow how is a peaceful protest passive aggressive? You can love the company & despise the leadership. People don't need to give up & quit, they need to stay & be brave enough to be the example. It's a pendulum swing. Most people don't have the luxury to just quit & start their own business. That's ridiculous advice.

History lesson for associates..... The reason we're on a 45 hour work week is because there was a mandatory 5 hour meeting on Saturdays for HO associates. So 40 hours M-F (if you were lucky) and then 5 more on Saturday. This was to go over numbers from the stores.

Eventually that mandatory meeting was reduced to once month, yet the 45 hour work week remained.

And for those of you that want to leave, make a plan and set a date and hold yourself to it. WM is no longer a decent place to work. Get your finances in order. Be prepared to pay for relocation so save money. Update your resume and post it at the top job sites. I did this in a job prior to WM. A reorg occurred and I got the manager from hell. This person destroyed my career by lying to her boss and on my eval. Any promotion or transfer to another team was DOA. So I finally set a date. I was going to walk away regardless of whether I had a new job. Fortunately I found one 2 weeks before my self-imposed deadline. Unfortunately my new job laid me off after a year with housecleaning. After that WM found me.

@OtKAjqN-wik Oh I believe it! Walmart loves to claim they provide a flexible work place and they brag about the work-life balance that in reality leaves a LOT to be desired. They'd be surprised by the number of people who would job share or work reduced hours for a reduced salary, too. I inquired about both and was all but laughed out of the office.

Requiring a 45 hour work week minimum plus Saturday's and no actual alternative location options (associates in my area are "strongly discouraged" from ever working from home or a satellite location) is honestly archaic.

The young folks they're bringing in either already know they don't want to work here long term and are just here to name drop WM on their resume or they figure it out shortly after arriving and stay for their requisite two years so they don't have to repay their sign on/relocation money.

They're right about one thing; change is necessary. I just think the way they're doing it is all sorts of wrong.

@OtKAjqN-bni, you won't regret it once you devise a plan and leave. I did the same a few months ago, after a year of working up the courage to do it. If Walmart would offer voluntary severance/early retirement, the leaders would probably be surprised at the number of people ready to jump off the ship.

Uncle Tom, as in subservient people beaten by a cruel master, and not in the racist connotation form. I hope that is what the previous poster, "oxi" meant.

The poster (willow) who wants people to appreciate what they have in getting their bills paid and to finish their tasks (with an exclamation point), is a demeaning suggestion. People deserve more than that in their career.

Bottom line, Walmart workers are not being treated with respect and dignity by a company that touts a culture built on basic beliefs where respect for the individual is one of the core tenets. Walmart is a place that is known to work their people to death. Hypocrisy rules that place and has for a long time. It is clear in their treatment of associates and vendors alike. Something has to change. The court of public opinion is now judging Walmart along with other companies, and has a reach through social media that all their company spin and propaganda cannot overcome, period!

They don't care. A more effective way to express your dissatisfaction is to rate them honestly on AES. But in my experience, they don't care much about that either. I agree with the previous response, if you're so unhappy, leave. I'm currently researching how to replace my salary, because I'm miserable here. We have HORRIBLE leadership in our area and with the new three year rule, nothing's likely to change soon. So I'm out. I'd like to do it on my own time, but if I get laid off, I wouldn't be too sorry.

Childish. If it's that unplesant that your morale is low, just quit. Run your own business.

A good approach is to appreciate what you got. Your bills getting paid? Why the constant whine everyday. It's pathetic to come up with passive agressive methods to see if you can punish the company. It's also stupid. It reveals your emotional priorities in life.

Finish your tasks!

The best way to protest is to not shop Walmart. If the revenue in the local market hits rock bottom, maybe they'll get the point?

The other thing is to review the company on Glassdoor and lay out what has been going on. That way at least new people have a way to understand what they might be getting themselves into with the continual layoffs.
