Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Walmart is a practiced pro at layoffs

Walmart has been laying off since February 2009 when they laid off 800 at HO. They've been ramping up the cuts in more recent times since the layoff in October 2015, where they cut 450. Since then it has been pretty steady laying off, with several large groups let go at a time in 2017.

They've cut stores and clubs in the past too. For those who don't believe it, Google the cuts over the years.

Be ready, have a plan, and by all means don't drink the kool-aid.

Agree, @Os5bQur-cie. New layoffs are imminent, it's just a matter of whether they will try to mask them by sporadically laying off people over a longer period, or if they'll just rip the band-aid off and do it all at once.

The layoffs have been occurring since 1996/1997 but in different ways. The first layoff was for HO associates they could either go work in the field or would be layed off. Also in1997 the field was restructured to add more hourly supervisors and eliminate assistant manager positions. Heard the cost savings now are $700M but being reinvested in hiring VPs or new officers. Not sure about this approach.
