Thread regarding Sears layoffs

How did that "sale" go

How did the pre liquidation (sale) go? Did sales improve? Customer traffic get better??

What about using SHC? I might try it.

For those considering taking Sears off their resume, instead try using a generic description in place of the company name - something like "A Major Department Store" instead of "Sears". That way you can still show your experience without getting the knee-jerk reaction to the name. If you get an interview, then you can reveal the name there with better context.

I wrote the how do you hide 30 years of employment question? Genuinely curious. I am having some trouble with the Sears name myself and I haven't worked for Sears for too long.

Doesnt matter if he/she gets the job I guess its the idea that without sears on their resume, they get the interview without sears on it

How do you hide 30 years of employment? Maybe you now look young on your resume because you have no work experience on there and companies think you're 16.

" - to lie on my resume and not include sears on my resume and boom I have an interview on Monday and a phone interview with a different place Tuesday "

And BOOM!!! when they check your references and your work history via credit checks and other methods AND you try to explain away what YOU were doing the last 30 yrs you will be able to continue polishing your interview skills - what a maroon

I would hazard a guess that you don't exactly look like a young stud or studette so age may be playing a factor

I am searching every day for a quality job, but im guessing because I have sears ASM on my resume im am being looked over. Black balled if you will. this used to be a company people were trying to steal managers from to work in their company... ha haha not anymore, if your still here they think its because your a loser just like the company. I have gone to the extreme to lie on my resume and not include sears on my resume and boom I have an interview on Monday and a phone interview with a different place Tuesday ... true facts

OP, do you feel better about yourself now? I hope you really do...

Couple month from now we will find a post from OP about his struggle to find a job due to Sears in his resume... no, it's not because his/her negative attitude or personal skills, it's all because of Sears...

Sorry your having a rough day, we have all been there..as for your assumption that I am fishing, I very much have a vested interest in the organization and want to see it bounce back!

Not true.....just someone who is having a tough day and thinks it's somebody external asking as opposed to associates.

From your response, I can clearly assume it didn't go well, thanks for sharring!!

"Question dodging is the intentional avoidance of answering a question. This may occur when the person questioned either does not know the answer and wants to avoid embarrassment, or when the person is being interrogated or questioned in debate, and wants to avoid giving a direct response."
