Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

More layoffs incoming?

It seems that National Oilwell Varco is gearing for more layoffs... Not sure when, but this makes it pretty clear that the last round achieved what they wanted it to, so I am guessing they will not be shying away from more...

What you expect from a company without vision??? They have been restructuring since more than a year and nothing seems to bring the name back.. LEGO mentality ..playing without knowing ..

Unless something changes NOV is a deadman walking. It's like someone with a cancer, they just slowly pass & suffer. NOV will be in hospice at some point. I just hope I have a new job by then. Good luck NOV employees, screw mgt. it's their fault!!!!

I think NOV seems to be aiming toward the type of company they hold as a strategic goal. They want to be like Sears. Sears is a sales company, they manufacture nothing. Sears has stuff made to there specks, cutting corners to be able to undersell the competition. Sears is also on a downward spiral and will probably soon go out a business.

Sears, Nov, both industry leaders but lost the ability to compete due to poor management.

You hit it on the head. NOV mgt. is terrible, they keep outsourcing everything, cutting employees & loosing money. Maybe they should cut themselves & go in a new direction!!!

NOV feels like it is in a bit of a death spiral. They continue to cut to save money, but can't generate revenue to offset the cuts which makes costs go up which costs them orders which creates more necessity to cut jobs and save money which . . .
