Employee Communication was received (via e-mail) stating wave 1 has been completed. Although many are able to breathe again, there's no telling what wave 2 will entail and when it will be implemented. Staying motivated, productive, and proactive is all that we can do until the next wave.

Dear Colleagues –

Project Nickel, the companywide transformation effort announced earlier this week, is now fully underway. As I shared with you, this project is wide-scoping and ambitious in its goals of modernizing our operations, serving our members through high quality care, and growing our core business by winning governments contracts and expanding our footprint. Unfortunately, as you know, a part of this project involves a workforce reduction across the company. Yesterday we notified several hundred employees whose positions have been eliminated as a result of this organizational redesign.

We’re transforming Molina Healthcare into a more efficient and resilient company. Part of that transformation is transparent communication. As such, I want to share with you that notifications to the first wave of employees are now complete. The organizational redesign work will be largely complete by the end of September.

Our initial organizational redesign has resulted in changing reporting lines. Your managers will communicate any specific changes within your department or your reporting structure.

We are also enacting a 60-day hiring freeze. This includes all contractors and temp hires as well as regular, full-time employees. At the end of the 60-day period, we will be able to hire judiciously into the new, completed structure.

As a reminder, the organizational redesign is only one way we are increasing profitability. We are carefully managing expenses across the board, including assessing opportunities to reduce medical costs and the review of all discretionary spending and large contracts, to be as cost-effective as possible. I appreciate your flexibility, cooperation and innovative thinking as we seek creative ways to strengthen our Company.

Thank you for the many thoughtful questions and concerns you’ve submitted since Monday. The initial Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document is posted on the Molina intranet here. Please continue to submit questions, comments, and suggestions through our anonymous link, and we will continue to update the FAQ as we progress through the project.

Thank you, again, for your dedication and commitment to Molina Healthcare.
