Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

More cuts will acheive nothing at National Oilwell Varco

NOV feels like it is in a bit of a death spiral. They continue to cut to save money, but can't generate revenue to offset the cuts which makes costs go up which costs them orders which creates more necessity to cut jobs and save money which . . .

It's a never-ending circle, and until somebody in the company decides to look beyond the immediate quarter results, it's going to stay that way. in the end, either somebody wises up, or we go down. I don't see a third option.

Ask not what a company can do for you. Ask what you can do for your company.

What about the money wasted on flying that hr person around. What a joke that is. Spend the money on keeping engineers instead.

It's not a death spiral. It's a death rattle. Know the difference.

Sometimes people feel like a company is in a death sprial because it is in a death spiral.

Cut some of those chiefs, especially in Nisku. To many transfers from Asia have chased away best employees to Wenzel. I won't back to work people that are corrupt. Lance killed our team and enjoys watching the ship burn with his little smoking buds.

Everyday they transfer people from Norway, UK and Brizal to the US for middle manager positions and pay for the entire move ,just to pay lower wages. It's like a kick in the teeth. Greed is going to be the down fall for NOV. Maybe they already have something in the works? We are just not willing to see it.

Cuts should of started years ago at the top rather than the bottom. Why NOV is still shelling out bonuses is mind boggling. Instead of keeping executives in their fancy luxury cars that add zero value, keep those who perform the work that fulfill the orders to the customers. Max output with minimal manpower only works when you have enough Indians to complete the work. NOV's old mindset of too many chiefs and not enough Indians is a classic example of their strategy and it continues to fail them.
