Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Layoff - take the bitter pill guys !

Guys and Gals - Understand that any job loss is sad, but these are changing times. You cannot drive in SUV, 10 kms to get coffee every morning - those days are gone. Wake up smell the coffee and make it at home.

The rest of the world is moving faster, look at asia. Make your kids learn and be competitive and you as well upskill if you can !

Yes there will be wfr - look at what is happening in the whitehouse - yes you are fired ! and will be fired - so be ready !!

To the OP

Actually I can. I bought myself a brand new SUV with my payoff and I pick up a decent coffee on my way into work each day.

I'm not bitter about leaving HPE, luckily the sh--stain "DXC" doesn't appear on my CV, far from it. However there is a certain fascination about watching the whole show continue to self destruct as they employ the same tactic they've used for 30odd quarters.

Bottom line is it's a lousy company. Anyone who wants to stay is a fool. Upper management does not care about you. Cut your losses and get out before you are shoved out.

The overwhelming majority of employees just want to get through a day's work and come home. They don't care about competition or other corporate buzzwords.

That said -- employees should do their best, and be aware of changes of the market so they can adapt.

Useful and competitive today is redundant later today. You can keep swimming upstream and continue to make emotional financial personal investments in a dying company. Or...take a big picture view and invest your precious resources where they will grow. Both paths are hard. Pick one with intention.

It makes no difference how good you are, it only matters if you job can be relocated somewhere cheaper. That can mean offshore or just a cheaper location in your own country/region.

Nobody except the board are exempt.

If you think otherwise, prepare to learn a hard lesson,.

1tzt: only the weak or incompetent are 'forced to train their Asian replacements'. You seem to have missed my point: those who are strong AND excel have no need to train their replacements... because they do not exist. Replacements are for the 'competitive' people the OP referenced. Not for those above the grade. Oh... and I do NOT work on the cheap.

I think you've inhaled too much hairspray. Most people are forced to train their Asian replacements. So your whole striving for excellence point is ridiculous. Just keep slurping your coffee and remember it's because you're cheaper ....not better.

I'm sure Mr CEO is crying all the way to Starbucks in one of his Ferrari's.

OP: Yes, I CAN drive my SUV to coffee every day and I DO

so religiously. And I will continue to do so until they pry my cold, dead fingers off the steering wheel. And as far as raising children... only fools teach their prodigy to be competitive. This only leads to mediocrity and eventual layoffs. Go the smart route and teach them to excel; get on top of the game... above the competition. That way they can drive their own SUVs to daily coffee while passing those in the unemployment line.
